West Virginia American Water Proudly Recognizes American Water Charitable Foundation 2023 Water and Environment Grantee
HUNTINGTON, W. Va. (SEPT. 6, 2023) – The American Water Charitable Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization established by American Water, the largest regulated water and wastewater utility company in the U.S., recently announced the Huntington Children’s Museum was awarded a Water and Environment grant, supporting communities served by West Virginia American Water.
“The Huntington Children’s Museum is overwhelmed with gratitude to be an American Water Charitable Foundation Water and the Environment grant recipient this year,” said Tosha Pelfrey, president of the Huntington Children’s Museum. “Together we’re going to create an amazing space for children to learn and develop through play while also supporting Huntington’s West End’s revitalization efforts.”
The Huntington Children's Museum was awarded a $164,520 grant from the American Water Charitable Foundation's Water and the Environment Grant Program, which focuses on water, people and communities. This grant will help support the organization's new Sensory City exhibit, an ADA accessible exhibit that will provide a variety of sensory experiences, such as a water table, augmented reality sand table, mural and signage to educate youth about watershed protection.
“The American Water Charitable Foundation is pleased to partner with eligible nonprofit organizations across West Virginia American Water,” said Carrie Williams, president, American Water Charitable Foundation. “Funding for the Water and Environment grants focus on clean water, conservation, environmental education, climate variability, and water-based recreation projects.”
