Pennsylvania American Water Announces $770K Water Main Replacement Project in Hummelstown

Hershey, Pa. (Nov. 8, 2021) – Pennsylvania American Water today announced the start of construction to replace multiple sections of water main in Derry Township to improve reliability for customers, reduce service disruptions, and increase water flows for firefighting. The cost of the system improvements is $770,000.

The project, which is scheduled to begin today, includes replacing existing main with new 8-inch ductile iron main on Jill Drive (from Waltonville Road to Randall Circle), Roslaire Drive (from Peggy Drive to Galway Court), Limerick Court (from Roslaire Drive to Draymore Court) and all of Draymore Court. Crews will work weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Traffic restrictions will be in place during construction. The company expects to complete the water main installation and connect all customer service lines to the new main by spring 2022. Final restoration and paving are scheduled to be completed in summer 2022.

During construction, customers might experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water, and/or lower than normal water pressure. Crews will work as quickly as possible to shorten the length of these temporary inconveniences. For more information, contact Pennsylvania American Water’s customer service center at 1-800-565-7292.
