New York American Water Replacing Aging Water Main in Lawrence
Lawrence, NY (April 16, 2020) – New York American Water is investing $1,250,000 to install new water main along several streets in Lawrence. The project, scheduled to begin Monday, April 20, weather permitting, will replace 5,500 feet of aging water main with new 6- and 8-inch ductile iron main. The project will also replace 90 utility-owned service lines.
“The safe, reliable provision of water service is essential, especially now as we are dealing with a public health emergency. That is why it is imperative that we continue to repair and renew aging pipes in the ground,” said New York American Water Director of Engineering John Kilpatrick. “Water main replacement plays a significant role in improving water quality.”
This main replacement project will take place along Briarwood Lane from Broadway to Chauncey Lane; Jorgen Street from Briarwood Lane to Auerbach Lane; Ventana Court from Briarwood Lane to the dead end; Chestney Road from Briarwood Lane to the dead end; and Auerbach Lane from Broadway to Chauncey Lane. Work is expected to take approximately eight weeks to complete. Final street restoration will be completed as part of a Village of Lawrence road construction project.
Work will take place between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Residents should note that sections of the street where construction is taking place may be closed to traffic during these working hours.
