New Jersey American Water and American Water Charitable Foundation to Host Free “WaterFest” Community Event During World Water Week

CAMDEN, N.J. – August 21, 2024 – New Jersey American Water and American Water Charitable Foundation will be hosting “WaterFest,” a free, action-packed community event in partnership with the City of Camden on August 24 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Von Neida Park & Splash Pad in Camden, NJ. The event takes place during the United Nation’s World Water Week, a week centered around focusing on the value of water for people, nature, climate change, and community enhancement.

WaterFest aims to educate and engage attendees of all ages about water services, environmental education, conservation, water quality, and lead service line replacement. Team members from New Jersey American Water and American Water Charitable Foundation will be available to provide more information and discuss these topics in depth with customers and residents. Representatives from New Jersey American Water’s environmental partners, including The Center for Aquatic Sciences, Sustainable South Jersey, and more, will also be available to discuss watershed and source water protection information.

"Our first-ever WaterFest will be a fantastic opportunity for us to connect with our customers in Camden and the surrounding communities and share our passion for clean, safe water," said Mark McDonough, President, New Jersey American Water. "We're excited to offer a fun-filled day that not only entertains but also educates residents about the importance of water conservation and environmental stewardship."

"We are looking forward to this tremendous opportunity for our community to come together, learn, and have fun at New Jersey American Water’s WaterFest,” said Camden Mayor Victor Carstarphen. “It showcases the vital partnership between Camden and New Jersey American Water, highlighting our shared commitment to environmental stewardship and public education. I encourage all our residents to come out and take advantage of this engaging and informative event that celebrates one of our most precious resources."

The event is free and open to the public, and attendees can participate in a range of outdoor activities, games, and musical performances, in addition to enjoying a DJ, a K9 unit and fire truck, and food. Among the attractions is a Splash Pad donated by an American Water Charitable Foundation contribution in 2017.

"The Splash Pad has been a beloved feature of Von Neida Park for years, and we're thrilled to see it continue to bring joy to the community,” said Carrie Williams, President, American Water Charitable Foundation. “WaterFest aligns perfectly with our mission to support initiatives that promote clean water, water conservation, and environmental education."
