WHAT: Missouri American Water will present a check in the amount
of $5,000 to the Wildcat Glades Conservation and Audubon Center. Funds
will be used to cover costs for the annual Shoal Creek Water Festival
coming up on August 13.
WHEN & WHERE:
The check will be
presented at a ribbon cutting with the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce
on Friday, August 5 at 11:00 am at the Wildcat Glades Conservation and
Audubon Center located at 201 Riviera Drive in Joplin.
WHY: The annual Shoal Creek Water Festival is a free, family
friendly event that brings awareness to the importance of watershed
protection. As the main source of drinking water for the Joplin
Community, it is critical to continue to maintain the integrity of Shoal
Creek. Missouri American Water has participated in this event since the
first one held in 2009.
The Missouri American Water Environmental Grant Program is an annual
program that began in 2005. It is available to organizations within a
Missouri American Water service territory that have a project that
serves to protect and sustain our environment, in particular watersheds.
A total of five grants were awarded to applicants across the state.
