Maryland American Water Begins $339,000 Water Tank Rehabilitation in Bel Air

Maryland American Water today announced that the company’s 250,000-gallon elevated water storage tank, located on Main Street, will be painted and rehabilitated. The cost of improvements to the tank, which was last painted in 1995, is approximately $339,000.

“This water storage tank plays a critical role in ensuring service reliability, so it’s important that we make these periodic investments to extend the tank’s lifespan and ensure that reliability continues,” says Maryland American Water President William R. Walsh.

Starting this week, work will include pressurized removal of the existing coating, as well as recoating the exterior and interior portions of the tank. These improvements are part of Maryland American Water’s long-term strategy of ongoing investment in its water systems.

Project work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. Weekend work hours, as needed, will be from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, though work will only take place on Sundays if the crew was unable to perform the necessary work during the week due to inclement weather. During the project, residents in nearby homes might experience noise during the daytime hours. Crews will work as quickly as possible to shorten the length of any noise or other temporary inconveniences.
