Indiana American Water Awards Firefighter Grants to Northwest Indiana Fire Departments
GARY, Ind., (March 11, 2020) -– Indiana American Water today announced that it has awarded $8,750 to six northwest Indiana fire departments as part of its 2020 Firefighter Grant Program. Grant recipients include fire departments from Gary, Portage, Hobart, Merrillville, Chesterton and Burns Harbor.
The program provides financial assistance to fire and emergency organizations serving customers in Indiana American Water’s service areas. Indiana American Water’s Firefighter Grant Program awards grants to provide personal protective gear, communications equipment, firefighting tools, water handling equipment, training materials and classroom programs.
“Our local firefighters across the state are committed to protecting their communities and each other,” said Indiana American Water President Matt Prine. “While we provide the water and infrastructure to support their efforts, it’s these brave men and women putting their lives on the line every day that keep our homes, businesses and families safe.
“We appreciate the vital role our local firefighters play in the communities we serve and are committed to supporting their efforts,” Prine continued. “Our hope is that these grants will help to make what is undoubtedly a challenging work environment a bit safer and to help our firefighters be even more effective in their efforts.”
