GREENWOOD, Ind.
GREENWOOD, Ind.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Indiana American Water President Alan DeBoy today announced the company’s acquisition of a water system from the Town of New Whiteland in central Indiana. The purchase of the system adds approximately 2,100 customers to the company’s customer base and serves a population of nearly 5,700 residents.
“The acquisition of this system gives New Whiteland customers continued access to water professionals and a convenient customer service center that is available 24/7,” said DeBoy. “Indiana American Water already provides water to the Town through a wholesale contract, so this is a natural evolution of our service to the community and is a continuation of our efforts to expand our presence across Indiana.”
New Whiteland Town Council President John Perrin is also enthusiastic in his support of the acquisition. “After careful and thoughtful consideration, over a long period of time, of the current and future challenges of the Town’s ongoing operation of its water utility, the Council unanimously agreed that the residents of New Whiteland will be best served by the sale to Indiana American Water.”
The acquisition of the New Whiteland system for approximately $4.2 million was approved by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission in March, 2012, and finalized by Indiana American Water and New Whiteland on June 27, 2012. The New Whiteland system will be incorporated into the company’s Johnson County District, which currently serves approximately 44,000 residents.
