Ribbon Cutting Planned for Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 11 AM
SADORUS, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Illinois American Water and the Village of Sadorus are celebrating the
completion of a significant community water quality investment. The
community is invited to attend the ribbon cutting on Wednesday, Sept.
26, 2018, at 11 a.m. The event will be held at Sadorus Village Hall
located at 115 E. Market Street in Sadorus.
Less than a year after acquiring the Village of Sadorus water system,
Illinois American Water began installing a three-mile pipeline to
connect Sadorus to its Champaign County distribution system. This
investment of approximately $1.2 million has been completed, improving
local water quality.
“Everyone should have access to quality drinking water at their tap. We
are very proud to provide this critical service to Sadorus residents,”
said Dave Farrar, senior manager of field operations and production.
Village of Sadorus Mayor John Deedrick said, “The sale of the Village
water system to Illinois American Water ensured our community would
receive quality water at an affordable price. Their expertise and
commitment to investing in infrastructure is a benefit to our public
health and economic future."
Illinois American Water acquired the Village of Sadorus water system at
the end of March 2017. The Village of Sadorus Board voted in favor of
the sale in April 2016 and the Illinois Commerce Commission approved the
sale for $240,000 on Feb. 1, 2017.
Future investment projects in Sadorus will include upgrading undersized,
outdated water mains. New fire hydrants will also be installed to
enhance fire protection.
